The Intelligence of Orunmila

LA INTELIGENCIA DE ORUNMILA

Patakín:

Olofin, to punish all his children, locked all the money in a sack and hung it from a very great tree. He posted Elegba and the rooster as guardian (to crow at any approach), and the donkey (to bray).

Orunmila, seeing the hardship his children were passing, made ebbo with a ladder, a rooster, corn, and malanga, eku, eyá, and placed the ebbo at the foot of the tree. Since the watchmen had not eaten in a long time, when they saw the ebbo they abandoned their watch and began to eat. Orunmila used the moment to place the ladder and climb the tree. He took the money down and distributed it among all his children.
