The Opening Prayer and the Captain's Work
Iroso Tolda Obatala Mowayeni Aiye Gbogbo Orisha Ewunyiara — Ocean of the Gods in the Bounty of the Sea in My Home. The captain's work is named first. The signature of this Ifá is the steady hand at the wheel — a sign in which the sea may push you to drown if you do not steer.

01When the Boys Made Ebbo

EBBO: A rooster, pita de corojo, hook, and owo el mello. Then three rooster feathers and head are taken and put three days on top of Elegba; then it is made aché.
PATAKIN. Olokun wanted to take the earth for the sea, and Obatalá made it known that it could not be — because if it was like that, where were her children going to live? And Obatalá sent the boys of Orunmila. They were told that they were going to a spot to fish, and to do the prayer before going. They made it.
Olokun saw them and immediately went to where Orunmila was, to give him the complaints that they were taking fish. Orunmila answered her: that he could do nothing because they had made ebbo.
Note. This is the founding patakín of the prayer before the act. The boys who pray first are the boys who fish freely; the deity who comes to complain hears the only answer that ends complaints — they made ebbo.
