PATAKIN:
There was a man who had an underage daughter who had a lover, and the two loved each other, but her father opposed that relationship because he was a vice-ridden individual, a brawler, and of bad social antecedents, who was always in scrapes.
The father advised her to break off those relations and look for a young man of good conduct who truly loved her, but the daughter did not obey him.
One day the father locked her in her room so that she could not see her lover, and he watched her constantly to prevent her from going any further with that man.
It happened that one day the daughter, already tired of so much harassment from her father and at the insistence of her lover, went off with him, taking advantage of a moment of carelessness on her father's part. The mother, to avoid trouble and shame, advised the father not to look for her or report it to the authorities. The father, after much struggling with his wife, agreed and remained calm.
The girl's husband, seeing that the father was not looking for him, that he had not reported it to the law, and that everything had remained as if nothing had happened, began to think that the father was plotting something against him to harm him or to do something bad to him personally, to the point of becoming very tense and nervous; this was noticed by his young wife. One day she went to the gambling house her husband frequented and noticed that he was extremely nervous and looking in all directions as if someone were pursuing him, with fear reflected on his face.
Talking with him, she took him to their house, and there she let him know that she had noticed the unease he was experiencing and asked him what it was due to. He answered that he was not afraid, but that he could not live thinking that her father might do harm to both of them, and that was why he was cautious.
Some time later, that man decided to leave gambling and the life he was leading, and he began to work honestly and to lead a blameless conduct, and when he returned in the afternoon from work he no longer went out of the house, spending the whole night with his wife.
It happened that the woman became pregnant and in time gave birth to a beautiful girl, and then, taking advantage of that opportunity, the couple went with the girl to the father-in-law's house, bringing them some gifts.
The father-in-law, knowing the change the young man had undergone, received him as if he were his own son, and shortly afterward the wedding was celebrated, and everyone lived happy and content in close harmony.
