01The Road Where the Two Faces Speak

Olofin told Elegua, “If you find me in the forest when I whistle to you, I will send you to Orunmila’s house so that he may make Ifá for you.”
Olofin whistled and hid behind a plantain tree, but Elegua could not see him. Eshu was already angry and beginning to lose control when Shango happened to pass. Seeing Eshu upset, Shango asked what was wrong, and Eshu explained what had happened.
Shango told him, “Stand behind me. You look in that direction, and I will look in this one.” When Olofin whistled again, Shango said, “Rascal, you are behind the plantain tree. Now you must pay for Ifá for both of us.” Here the two faces speak.
02The Dog and the Hunter

The dog lived in the forest. Whenever the hunter arrived, the dog warned the birds, and they flew away before the hunter could catch them. At last the weary hunter took the dog home and gradually tamed him. Sometimes he went to the forest alone, and at other times he took the dog with him.
One day the dog began barking in the forest to show the hunter where the birds hid. From then on, the hunter captured good prey. The birds began wandering from place to place in flight, while the hunter enjoyed a successful hunt.
